The purpose of the Vessel Maintenance Fund is to make money available for maintenance of the sternwheel vessels that are under the care of HSPS. As of this writing, the vessels maintained by this fund are the BARBARA H and the LORETTA HOWARD.
How Funds Are Used
The Vessel Maintenance Fund receives proceeds from giftshop sales and the events that the BARBARA H attends. The proceeds go into the fund and are distributed as follows:
- General Maintenance & Operation of the BARBARA H
- Diesel fuel
- Engine & drivetrain lubricants (oil, grease, etc)
- Utilities (shorepower, propane, etc)
- Deck equipment (rope, cable, winches, etc)
- Services rendered (welding, engine repair, etc)
- General Maintenance & Restoration of the LORETTA HOWARD
- Paint & paint related supplies
- Construction materials (carpentry items, tools, etc)
- Potential Large Maintenance Items
- Matching funds for grants
- Hull replating
- Generator replacement
